I did not spend a lot of time in Guyana, although I was there
twice. The problem is that as there are so few tourists, the costs for going to
some of the more exotic parts of the country are prohibitively expensive. Also
as most of the country is covered in thick forest (Photo 1) it is difficult to
get to some places without flying.
Georgetown the capital has some interesting wood buildings and
St. Georges is apparently the largest wooden construction in the world (Photos 1
& 2). The City Hall (Photo 3) also has an interesting look to it, resembling
to some extent a horror house.
En route to Springlands (on the border with Suriname) one can
see lilies growing along the roadside.
