When we visited Chartwell, we knew that it was Winston and Clementine Churchill's home, we did not realise how much we would be able to sense their presence around the place.
The house is a museum now. Whilst much of it is dedicated to Winston's career, particularly as war time Prime Minister, there is also much of it which gives a sense of the people that lived there. It also dedicates a lot to showing the doting relationship between Winston and Clementine.
The grounds are lovely. As we were amongst the last visitors of the day, we had the place almost to ourselves.
