I have spent a lot of time in Dorset and surrounding areas, as my grandparents retired to that part of the world. These photos however were taken more recently.
Lyme Regis is a pretty coastal village with a rocky beach.
Lulworth Cove is a picturesque cove with some pleasant walks around, though the wind atop the crests was quite bitter and strong, it was worth braving for the views.
The Fossil Forest is full of fossilised tree stumps and trunks from the Jurassic era.
The Durdle Door is where the sea has excavated through the rock leaving and archway. By the time we got there, the sun was beginning to set, so the colours became increasingly vivid.
These New Forest ponies were actually near Brockenhurst (Hampshire). They were quite friendly and docile, despite being semi-feral. There have been ponies in the New Forest for more than half a million years and they are a distinct breed, with particular characteristics. These days the commoners (residents of the New Forest) own the ponies and there are measures in place to preserve their health and bloodline.
There was this interesting sign for a Chinese takeaway. I don't know what the story is, it seems the takeaway got lost behind the bypass or perhaps it should be bypasses or you just need a bypass if you go there.
We were back in Dorset and visited the interesting ruined castle of Corfe, as well as the quaint village adjoining it.
