We enjoyed the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, as we got to see a number of rescued seals from around the south coast, as well as Humboldt penguins, which we had previously seen in Peru.
Some of the seals are injured, several are blind and some have brain damage. Consequently, they would not survive if they were re-released to the wild, so are permanent residents. One of these brain damaged seals, who we nicknamed Circles, constantly just span around in the same part of the pool. As she seemed to enjoy herself doing that, she was probably our favourite. |
