We visited Lincoln and some neighbouring parts for a short break and these are some of the photos from that time.
We stayed in Burton Waters, near Linoln and walked in to town along the bridleway. The Fossdyke allowed cargo to be taken all the way by barge to Lincoln, now it is a picturesque spot to walk along or for some boats to cruise up and down.
The city itself is compact and in the centre is very quaint dominated by the large cathedral and the castle.
I do not know the history of the Jews of Lincoln, however these were apparently the Jews' house and court, not sure why that makes them particularly notable though.
RAF Conningsby is the home of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which is an active part of the Royal Air Force, though only a very select few pilots get to fly the planes there. The Hurricanes, Spitfires, Lancaster, Dakota and Chipmunks are not in a museum but are constantly being maintained and serviced in their own dedicated hangar on an otherwise fully operational air force base, as they all fly regularly. We took an informative tour of the hangar and could see the work going on, whilst every few minutes, the defeaning roar of a Eurofighter Typhoon taking off reverberated through the hangar and we could see them flying around outside above the AWACS and helicopters.
