Coniston

Coniston is probably most famous for the eight absolute speed records on water set by Donald Campbell, most notably in his Bluebird craft. Campbell lost his life when during an attempt on 4th January 1967, the boat flipped and he was killed.

Visiting the lake now, it is tranquil, calm and has none of the sense of urgency the record attempts would have had.
